*Yusuf Buhari in Ghastly Accident, Sustains Head Injury And Broken Limb* President Muhammadu Buhari's son, Yusuf, was involved in a ghastly power bike accident last night in the Gwanripa area of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja according to a statement issued by Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant to the President. The statement disclosed that Yusuf "broke a limb and had an injury to the head as a result. He has undergone surgery at a clinic in Abuja. He is in a stable condition." Yusuf was reportedly drag racing with friends last night when the accident happened.

Over N400 billion was paid as bribes to civil servants in the first year of President Muhammad Buhari’s administration. This is according to a new report released by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime in conjunction with the National Bureau of Statistics. The National Corruption Report titled, “Bribery: public experience and response 2017” jointly coordinated by National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) and United Nations Office of Drug and Crime (UNODC) disclosed that “almost a third of Nigerian adults (32.3 per cent) who had contact with a public official between June 2015 and May 2016 had to pay, or were requested to pay, a bribe to that public official.” About 90.2 per cent of those living in the North West believe that government is very effective in fighting corruption. The wife of the Ebonyi State governor Mrs Rachael Umahi, on Wednesday, said she would take legal action against Mrs Joy Okochi, a policewoman who allegedly poured hot soup on her house-help Chinyere Igwe. Mrs Umahi speaking in Abakaliki through her Chief Press Secretary, Mr Donatus Owo, said the planned intervention against the culprit was to ensure that the victim gets justice. Umahi decried the lukewarm attitudes of some citizens of the state in handling the case and the alleged threats to the lives of both the victim and her parents by some people.
